Dr. Sudip Rakshit joined Lakehead Univerisity (LU) in April 2012 as a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Bioenergy and Biorefining processes. His research focus is on the production of biofuels and renewable chemicals from lignocellulosic biomass using biological catalysts. Earlier he was attached to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), where he served as the VP Research for 8 years. He started his career at the Chemical Engineering department, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, India, after completing his PhD from IIT Delhi. He is presently serving as the interim Director of the Biorefining Research Institute (BRI) at LU.
